manhattan good, airport bad
i got to the airport early. my flight (jetblue #43) was supposed to depart at 7pm and arrive back in orlando at 9-something. but it’s delayed until 1146p. many of the jetblue flights at nearby gates are also delayed. yay jetblue. so at least they have free wifi and good cafe-like furniture to use which lets me complain about jetblue while i wait my three remaining hours. there’s no post-office though, so i can’t send a postcard.
manhattan was neat. i saw some people, didn’t see other people, ate at koronet’s, took lots of urban hikes, got a lot of work done, got lost on the subway, and got scowled at by a girl when i complemented her on her coat. dumb girl with cool coat. it was a red full-length (wool?) coat with a hood built-in. i said that i thought it was cool because it reminded me of little red riding hood.
so manhattan is neat, but when compared to san francisco, it’s (a) somewhat smellier, (b) inhabited by many inconsiderate people, and (c) more expensive. oh and (d) many people smoke. but there are lots of things that are neat about nyc compared to frisco: (a) lots of personality, (b) diversity - not everyone is an engineer or a hippie, (c) more places with those places open later, (d) snow, (e) just a 2 hour jump from orlando, (f) stellar public transportation (assuming the transit union doesn’t call a strike), (g) family nearby, (h) i-heart-ny.
work-stuff was really interesting. exciting. venture-backed start-up is a neat experience. i guess this is my second venture-backed start-up? yeah. beats the big-company thing any day of the week, rain or shine.
anyway, i’m coming back in the middle of feb for another week or so, and then after that maybe for a month, and then after that maybe longer. we’ll see. i look forward to it.
