tabs to spaces

i use emacs and vim a lot. rather, i used to use them a lot. lately, for the past several months, i’ve been using eclipse. and everyone on the dev team doesn’t have their tabs set to insert four spaces. so the code is a mess. but i set mine to work correctly.

i recently found myself back in the more comfortable environment of gvim sometimes and emacs sometimes. but i discovered i had forgotten the tabs-to-space conversions.
