kqed morning edition mp3 on your ipod
every morning, my train-commute lacks the npr (nerdradio) with which i grew up with. without wanting to buy yet a portable radio-thing, i just thought i’d record 75 minutes of morning edition on kqed (public radio in san francisco) and copy it to my ipod before leaving the house. it’s kind of the first step to having a real morning edition podcast, not just the selected bits you get from npr.org that leave you wanting.
here’s my crontab. i like that it’s relatively readable.
# kqed RECORD=/usr/bin/streamripper KQED=http://www.kqed.org/listen/live/mp3/kqedradio.pls FOR_75_MINUTES=-l 4500 SILENTLY="> /dev/null" 59 5 * * 1-5 cd ~/Music; $RECORD $KQED $FOR_75_MINUTES $SILENTLY
i might make this available as a podcast so i can just subscribe to it and have it automatically download onto my ipod. but for now, the drag and drop is simple enough.
